Macrotek Providing Solutions for Boiler MACT Compliance
Washington, DC
March 27, 2013
On January 31, 2013, U.S. EPA published its final adjustments to its rules regulating emissions of hazardous air pollutants from industrial, commercial and institutional boilers and process heaters at major and non-major (known as “area”) source facilities of air toxics. It is estimated that 2,300 boilers—mostly large, coal-fired boilers located at industrial plants—will be required to meet numerical emission limits.
Macrotek Inc., a leading provider of air pollution control equipment, has been identified as a principle solution for industrial facilities affected by this ruling. Macrotek specializes in supplying advanced, customized technologies in the size range of boilers targeted by the MACT standards. The company has been working with the American industrial sector to evaluate existing systems, establish practical and economic resolutions, such as retrofits, and offer site-specific removal of particulate and other contaminants.
New and existing boilers at major source facilities will have until three years after publication in the Federal Register of the final rules to comply. This sets the existing source compliance date as January 31, 2016. Existing boilers at area source facilities must comply with the final rules beginning March 2014.
For an evaluation of existing systems or emissions control recommendations, contact Macrotek with specific Boiler MACT requirements.

Macrotek Invited to Canadian Trade Mission to Cuba
Havana, Cuba February, 2013
Major Cuban organizations selected Macrotek Inc., a global air pollution control provider, to be part of the Canadian delegation in a trade mission to Cuba this past January. The mission took place in Havana and Varadero and involved the discussion of exporting Macrotek’s systems to the Cuban industrial sector.
Over the course of four days, Macrotek met with interested parties in the petrochemical, chemical, mining, and oil industries, all of whom were required to submit a request to meet the Canadian company before the invitation could be extended. Macrotek has supplied air pollution control systems to countries around the world, including Cuba, Thailand, the Philippines, Madagascar, Ireland, Mexico, and Trinidad. The company’s reputation as an expert in air pollution control has enabled it to showcase Canadian technology to its global customers, offering advanced, cost-efficient solutions worldwide.
Interest levels for Macrotek systems were extremely high as demand for gas cleanup systems in the industrial market increases and talks of supplying equipment for a number of upcoming Cuban projects are already in the works.

Macrotek Key Player in Supporting Canadian Industry
Toronto, Canada
December 18, 2012
Macrotek Inc., a global provider of air pollution control technologies, has an important philosophy when it comes to how it does business: keep everything in Canada. The Markham, Ontario-based company has been operating for over 80 years and makes a conscious effort in supporting its local partners. Receiving contracts from all over the world, fabrication of all Macrotek systems is subcontracted to shops in Pickering and Mississauga, Ontario. It is estimated that every hour of Macrotek engineering time results in 5-10 times the hours of subcontracted fabrication time.
In addition to its fabrication influences, Macrotek also purchases every component for its air pollution control systems from Canadian suppliers, creating even more Canadian jobs and inserting more money into Canadian industry. Components for one Macrotek project could run up to $1 million and come from all over Canada.
All of this means that over the years Macrotek has triggered thousands of hours within the Canadian manufacturing force and contributed millions of dollars to the Canadian economy.
Although Macrotek is a globally recognized pollution control provider, many of its clients are Canadian engineering or industrial companies who also appreciate doing business with their local partners. Large contracts from recent Canadian mining projects won by Macrotek would otherwise likely have gone to pollution control companies south of the border. These are often Canadian competitors who move to the United States or are bought out by larger American firms.
“Our Canadian clients often worry that we will move outside of Canada,” says Jason Hiles, Vice-President of Macrotek. “Like us, they value doing business with partners in their own backyard. It’s essential for us to be able to support them and the Canadian economy.”
Macrotek has several projects underway for the rest of 2012 and 2013, all of which will be designed and manufactured in Canada.

World leader in Precious Metal Recovery and Processing Selects Macrotek
Quebec, Ontario July 26, 2011
A world leader in precious metal recovery and processing is building a pilot demonstration for a new proprietary technology. Part of the scope for this project includes a comprehensive gas clean-up system which will remove arsenic, acids, and particulate. Macrotek`s integrated gas clean-up system was selected. Hot gases from the furnace will be quenched and treated in an impingement tray scrubber while saturated gases are cooled to remove moisture and cleaned in a dry filter collector. For added mist removal, a fibre mesh mist eliminator will be included. Particulate-free gases containing a large percentage of SO2 are treated in a counter-current absorber. This section is contaminant free-allowing for SO2 or sulphuric acid recovery.
